What are USY and Kadima?

USY stands for United Synagogue Youth and is the youth movement of Conservative Judaism. On the International level, USY has over 20,000 members in grades 7 to 12. These members are divided into seventeen regions. Beth Hillel USY is a chapter in Northeast Region. Each Region is made up of chapters from local synagogues.  Kadima is similar to USY except that the programming is geared to those in younger grades.

What Does USY Do?

USY sponsors many types of programs that include a variety of teen tours to Israel, Poland, Eastern Europe and Spain. The Region sponsors Leadership Weekends, Kinnusim (weekend conclaves), Dances, and Regional Convention. BHS USY sponsors, social, educational, social action, and religious programming on a monthly basis and strives to instill a sense of teamwork and a community.
