SYNAGOGUE MEMBERS' SURVEY
Nearly one year ago, the Conservative Movement’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS) passed several teshuvot on the status of gays and lesbians. The months leading up to the passing of these teshuvot provided Conservative Jews a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the halakhic process.
The decisions of our Law Committee challenge each of our congregations and congregants to struggle with the texts of our tradition. With the memory of these recent deliberations fresh in our minds - indeed, the discussions are only now truly taking root in many of our congregational communities - we want to develop educational materials and study guides that will enable members of our congregations to study issues that are or may become of great interest.
In order to prioritize the development of such materials, we want to learn from our lay and professional leaders which issues are of interest. At the USCJ Biennial Convention on Sunday, December 2, an online survey was launched to begin the process of developing these materials that will enrich our congregations and empower members of our synagogues with greater knowledge of our Halakhic process.
Therefore, we are asking each individual member of our Conservative synagogues to take a few moments and respond to this short on-line survey. Thank you!
